The quirkiest pub in Hackney

This quirky pub is certainly more than meets the eye. The Nelson’s classic tudor exterior conceals a warm lively atmosphere adorned with an extensive array of NSFW decorations created by the community, guaranteeing that its patrons will spot something new each time they visit.

Just a stone's throw away from Columbia Flower Market, this pub is a welcome refuge from the bustling market street. What truly makes this seemingly classic pub unique however, is the oodles of genitalia drawings that adorn its walls. What started out as just one penis drawing as a result of Ben the landlord showing the staff behind the bar how he used to draw genitals as a youth, soon took off with the clientele, who started to add their own drawings. Now, visitors can admire the hundreds of creatively themed genitalia drawings that are framed throughout the pub.

Drag queens galore

The Nelson’s was bought with the intention of keeping it a local independent pub, that could create a safe space for anyone in the LGBTQ+ Community. Local residents love the drag events that fill up the activity calendar. From drag brunch to karaoke, the pub encourages adding a little extra glamour in your life.
