A garden you won’t want to leave

This East Dulwich delight is a backyard haven, ready to accommodate anyone looking to escape the fast-paced outside world. The lush greenery that is just around the corner in Peckham Rye Park extends into the Herne’s back garden, which boasts flourishing trees, hanging baskets, and blooming shrubs. It's even equipped with heaters for the winter!

The Victorian building still stands tall, featuring an unaltered art deco interior from the 30’s, as well as original decorative glass panelling in the windows. Dark wooden moulding paired with white walls and warm glowing lights invite you to settle down with your drink and forget about all of the day's troubles. With its real open fire for the winters, and huge back garden (complete with covering and heaters), the Herne is perfect to enjoy during any time of the year. If you fancy a bit of entertainment, stop by on the first and third Tuesday of every month to enjoy live trad nights.

Don’t let the name lead you astray

The name Herne Tavern can cause some confusion amongst visitors due to the contradicting name and locations. Contrary to the name, the pub isn’t on Herne Hill, but rather Forest Hill Road, even though it isn’t in Forest Hill. We know it’s a lot, after figuring out where it is (or isn’t), you’ll definitely need a drink!
