A most inviting hub after a stroll along the canal
Originally built in 1848 as a Royal Brewery House, the mid-Victorian building remains unspoiled and stands proudly in Hanwell along the canal, where walkers, cyclists, and dog lovers stroll and stop by for a restorative pint. Until the 1920s, the Fox was a meeting place for the local fox hunt. Located just 50 meters away from the ‘cattle drove route,’ it has also long served as a stopping point for drovers bringing livestock from the west to London slaughterhouses. As its name suggests, the furry named boozer was certainly not a gathering hub for vegans! The pub was pleasingly saved from closure in 2011, and you can now expect a warm atmosphere, thanks to the wooden panels and a beautiful bar which graces the centre of the venue. In the summer, the delightful beer garden bursts with vibrant blooms, creating a picturesque setting that enchants visitors as they sip their drinks amidst a kaleidoscope of colours.
A beer lover’s paradise
The Fox pays tribute to its origins as a Royal Brewery House with a fantastic selection of award-winning craft ales and features a rotating cask line showcasing the best local and seasonal brewers. The freehouse’s expertise in beers is so renowned that the establishment hosts a popular Beer Festival in spring and autumn, attracting ale enthusiasts from near and far. The festival offers an extensive selection of cask ales, craft beers, and ciders, making it a must-visit event for anyone passionate about great beer.
